Looking Glass_13_Human Interest_3.jpeg

In this late winter scene from March 2003, a neighbour dressed in black walks through freshly fallen snow with her two black Labs.

In an age defined by fleeting moments captured through screens, there exists a timeless artistry in the stillness of a photograph, the ability to encapsulate not just history, but the essence of humanity itself. My book, Through My Looking Glass, is a culmination of fifty years of documentary photography in Nova Scotia, spanning from 1973 to 2023. It chronicles a half-century of life in our vibrant, captivating province, where the intertwining of diverse cultures and experiences creates a rich and multifaceted narrative.

As we turn each page, may we honour the voices, the struggles, and the triumphs found in these photographs. My book serves as a reminder that every image encapsulates a moment in time, an opportunity to witness history through the eyes of those who lived it. Through My Looking Glass invites you to step into the heart of Nova Scotia, where the past and present converge in a symphony of  life, culture, and enduring human connection.
